Prints Charming

Hi beauties! Mixing prints has become a pretty huge trend lately and I haven’t tried it yet, but I love what I’m seeing and just might have to test it out! After doing some research and perusing images of my style icons, I think I’ve figured out a few tricks for perfecting this print-packed look…

  • Floral on Floral. It may seem strange, but pairing two distinctly different floral patterns actually works really well because it gives an overall sense of unity.
  • Big and Small. Mixing big and small printsis a really great way to make sure your prints don’t appear to be clashing. The bolder, large print will offset the smaller print and make it seem nearly neutral!

  • Neutrals and Brights. A lot of the prints I’ve seen are very bright and that won’t work for everyone. A great idea for those of you who aren’t big on bold colors is to pair one loudly printed piece with a neutral-hued pattern. The lookbecomes a little softer and a tad sophisticated, if I do say so myself!

  • When in doubt, choose leopard. As show stopping as leopard printis, it can be worn with just about ANY other print: floral, polka dots, stripes and even tie-dye.

  • Monochromatic Mix. Pairing different prints in the same shadeeliminates the possibility of clashing or being too over-the-top. I think it’s a great trick for those of us who are a little on the fence!

So lovelies, what do you think…Will you try mixing prints? Do you have any tips or tricks?

My Fall Beauty Picks

Hi beauties! When fall rolls around, I like how the colors of clothing and makeup tend to dim down a bit. I think this color change feels so fitting with the transitioning of the seasons and it makes sense to pull out your burgundy scarves, browns sweaters and olive corduroys when things start to get chillier. I always have fun updating my go-to makeup products so that they look a little more “autumn.” This season I’m loving the look of a berry lip, dark creamy eyeshadow, and maroon nails. So, to get you feeling beautiful and glam for fall, I’ve decided to share three of my favorite fall beauty picks. Take a peek below…
  •  One beauty trend I’m loving for fall is a pretty light berry lip color. This darker lip was all over the fall runways last spring, particularly in shows like Rochas and Gucci. I love YSL’s line of Volupté Sheer Candy lipsticks, and the color called “Mouthwatering Berry” is the perfect mix of deep plum and pretty pink, and it’s more of a stain so it doesn’t go on too heavily. This color totally achieves the berry lip that’s in this fall.
  • My next beauty pick is Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in “Midnight Brown.” It’s such a versatile product that I’m going to be using in fall. It’s a very pretty, chocolately color and it kind of gives the same effect of a smokey eye but much, much softer. The Burberry eyeshadows are just very good quality, and they have that silky, creamy texture that I love.
  • My last pick is OPI’s “Got the Blues for Red” polish and I’ve already been wearing it on my nails! I love really classic colors for manicures, so this autumn red had my name all over it.
I love all three of these fall beauty picks and I think I’m just going to use them until they’re completely gone this season! I can’t wait to start creating a more vampy-yet-classic beauty look. :)

What do you think of my fall beauty picks? Do you like the look of a deep berry lip?

Let me know, I need your opinion!

Pretty with an Edge

By Elle&Blair

I saw this photo of Maria Menunos the other day, and I really wanted to see what you guys thought about how she mixed two totally different pieces to create a really pretty look. This picture was taken a while ago, but when I saw it, it really got me thinking about my own outfit inspiration and how it’s fun to chance things up every once in a while. I never would have thought to mix a leather jacket with a flowy maxi dress, but it kind of works for her here…don’t you think? I also like her cream clutch, her simple jewelry, and her natural end-of-summer hair and beauty look. She looks pretty glam! Overall, I think the leather jacket maxi dress combo looks really cool on Maria Menunos, but I want to hear what you guys think…

Would you try this “pretty with an edge” look yourself? Do you think it works?

Snap and upload a pic of your own “pretty with an edge” outfit so I can see how you style this look yourself. You just might see your photo in an upcoming post :)

Happy Sunday beauties!

Bright Dresses for Every Body Type

By Elle&Blair

Hi guys! I think that you should always dress yourself in clothes that flatter your specific body type, regardless of what trends are popular in the moment. This is something I really truly believe because I think sometimes people get so carried away with being fashionable that they forget what actually looks good on them. I’ve been thinking about the idea of “dressing right for your body type” for a while now, so I put together a little guide of dresses that flatter 5 different body shapes! Check them out and tell me what you think…

IS0DmHsu3TYPI56YYjUXdUqr.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Pear shaped bodies. For girls who have thinner upper-bodies but might be curvier around their butt and thighs, I think a dress that emphasizes arms and shoulders is most flattering. The dress above is perfect because it is fitted on top and then poufs out a little at the bottom, which will accentuate your thin torso and hide your curvier areas.

VmVfQ4gVeuShhhlRsxw8saeh.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Apple shaped bodies. Girls with apple body types tend to have skinny arms and legs and a fuller middle area. I would choose a dress that falls loosely around your middle so that it shows off your thin limbs! I think this orange dress is such a fun color and it’s great for transitioning from summer to fall.

MJ6vDHSByKWxT2txt6Ye2soX.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Boyish bodies. A boyish body type just means a body with very minimal curves. Boyish bodies tend to be thin up and down, so it’s important to create the illusion of curves with a dress that has a little peplum or creates the illusion of curves. I think this magenta dress will help girls with a boyish body type appear to have ladylike hips and a bigger chest…plus it’s the perfect dress for a date night!

PGpiVzvWex22FqjZZtMMX3sB.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Busty Figures. Girls who are blessed with a little extra curvature on top should wear a dress that balances out their chest and doesn’t hug too tight. A dress that cinches at the waist and is flowy on top will do the trick. This turquoise and orange dress is also great because the diagonal stripes will carry your eye across instead of just focusing the attention to your chest.

vkGl3gykGRVOZuEvZxyb63cN.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Petite frames. I love maxi dresses for petite girls because I think the long skirt creates an illusion of length and height. As long as your maxi isn’t so long that it’s dragging on the ground (this can easily be fixed by getting it hemmed!), this style dress will lengthen and flatter a petite frame.

Those are my picks! I did a lot of research before putting these together so I’d love to hear your feedback! Here’s where to shop for these dresses for your body type:

  1. Pear Shaped: Topshop Lace Strappy Sun Dress, $72
  2. Apple Shaped: Sheinside Orange Sleeveless Chiffon Dress, $30.01
  3. Boyish Body: Dorothy Perkins Magenta Shift Dress, $49
  4. Busty Figure: ModCloth Slant Be Stopped Dress, $54.99
  5. Petite Frame: Target Merona Women’s Maxi Tie-Waist Dress, $29.99

Rush Week Style Tips!

6Ta6tq6FpuCFr2hZLZShL3nr.jpeg:Amazon:photo

Hi beauties! Dressing for sorority rush can be stressful if you don’t have some essential tips, I’m here to help you get started with an outfit that will work for any day of recruitment. Here are some tips that I kept in mind when I went through rush:

  • Always go for a more conservative look. You don’t ever want to show too much skin or dress inappropriately. Leave the party outfits for going out after you get your bid!
  • Wear clothes that flatter your figure. There are a lot of crazy trends going around right now, but make sure to stick to the styles that make your body look its best. Once you find some flattering pieces, play around with color and accessories to give your look some originality!
  • Be yourself. Speaking of originality, I remember when I rushed girls, the ones who let their personal style shine through stood out to me! This doesn’t mean you should wear your favorite concert t-shirt and lime green flip-flops (LOL). Just add a unique piece or jewelry or belt to your outfit so it reflects your personality.

Do you have any dressing up tips for sorority rush? Upload your OOTD during rush week and paste the link in the comments below…you might see it in an upcoming post.

5 Back to School Hairstyles!

By Elle&Blair

Hey guys! With the school year approaching, I know that your planners fill up quickly with school events… You have to schedule time to write book reports, study for exams, and of course attend the Friday night football games! When I was in school, the last thing I wanted to waste time worrying about was your hair, which is why I put together 5 super cute and easy hairstyles that will come in handy any day of the week! Check them out and try them yourself…

  • Braid with a Micro-Braid Accent. This is not your average braid! Add an unexpected twistby weaving a smaller braid in and out of the larger braid. This is perfect for playing sports and going to football games because it’s a look that’s sporty and stylish all at the same time!
    IOvUBIxIWOVUVsHhlxFy1y0k.png:Amazon:photo

  • Triple Knot Bun. This bun hairstyleis perfect for test days because it keeps your hair out of your face so you won’t have to worry about fidgeting with it all day. I’d call this hairstyle “stress-free tresses!”
    owTAS2X793GotK2DFB0Zpaiv.png:Amazon:photo
  • Boho Headband.I love this hairstyle because it instantly adds a whimsical and girly touch to an ordinary outfit, and I love how she added a pink flower and slid it further back so it wouldn’t bother her throughout the day! Must try this one myself…
    HcpJjzrsv76MNWbNJF5JJZ2v.png:Amazon:photo
  • Twist Half Up. For me, this would be a great Friday hairstyle. It’s perfect for the days you want to be comfortable, but still look pulled together.
    zvZEvRq6XD5zxQCErS9V1rJR.jpeg:Amazon:photo
  • Knotted Pigtails. I used to love wearing pigtails when I was younger! So, I especially love this ‘do because it is a mature update on a childhood favorite, and you can wear it any day of the week!

Which hairstyle are you dying to try? Do you have any unique ideas for styling your hair for school this year? Also, it would mean so much to me if you follow me on my blog. Heart you all <3

Cellairis Phone Cases

Hey Beauties! How are you all doing?? I have a little review for you guys on Cellairis phone cases! They were kind enough to send me two cases to try and review for free! Their cases are so pretty and attractive, especially the “Twilight Glitz” collection by Elle & Blair is decked out with signature crystals so you can be sure to stand out wherever you go! Their cases fit iPhone, Blackberry, HTC and more! Check out Elle & Blair’s collection right HERE. They are amazing! I am so excited to share this with you girls. Being able to change my case so it can match my outfit is so much fun! According to Blair, it makes sense to have a fashionable cell phone case since we use our cell phones all the time. She’s right – we’ve got cute bags and wallets, so why not accessorize our most-used accessory? You can change it every day and you will  love the fact that you have tons of different colors and styles to pick from!

Here are the cases I received:

Apple iPhone 4/4S Case – Gorgeous French Kiss

Apple iPhone 4/4S case – Zebra Rose

Cellairis has so many style sand designs using a range of materials and textures – from leather and lace to refined crystals. I love matching my outfit with the case I am holding. Recently, I’ve been trying to match my case to my nail polish. If you are like me, your phone is in your hands 24/7 and it looks so much better if your nail polish matches your phone case, doesn’t it? It’s always so much fun to plan my outfits. I would plan my outfit and then pick a phone case to match. But, I have two cases so far so, I do the opposite and I pick the case first and then an outfit. Just like when adding a necklace or a belt, I love how just by adding a case my outfit changes and my look feels complete. I love how unique and beautiful all the cases are and a day doesn’t go by when they aren’t noticed!

Check out their cases HERE!

Which phone case is your favorite from Cellairis?? Let me know in the comments below! Also, don’t forget to follow me on my blog :)

A big thanks to

DIY a Pretty Bookmark

By Elle&Blair
pretty bookmarks
This week’s DIY inspiration had me thinking about all of the fun jewelry that I never wear anymore, but can’t bring myself to get rid of. So, I thought why not try to give them new life by using them for a creative DIY project? Hence, glamorous bookmarks! These pretty page holders are super easy to make and they can make any book fun to read.

What you’ll need:

  • Strips of ribbon – They can be any color and texture you want, so have fun with it and be creative! You can purchase a yard of ribbon for about $1.59 from here.
  • Ribbon clamps – these need to be the same width as your ribbon strips. You can purchase a pack of 10 for $1.50 here.
  • Flat-nose jewelry pliers –if you have a pair of household pliers just lying around, these will work perfectly too!
  • Jump Rings – These are what will keep your jewelry attached to the ribbon. You can purchase a pack of 100 for roughly $1.00 from here.
  • Jewelry pieces of your choice – these can be necklace charms, rings, or even chandelier earrings.

Directions:

  1. Start out by cutting a strip of ribbon. If you have a specific book in mind that you’d like to use, lay the ribbon across it and add about an extra inch. If not, I found that a good practical length is between nine and eleven inches.
  2. With the flat-nosed pliers, secure a clamp to each end of the ribbon. This prevents the ribbon from fraying and lets you enjoy it even longer!
  3. On one end of the newly clamped ribbon, hook a jump ring to the clamp.
  4. And for the finishing touch, add your jewelry of choice to the jump ring for a one of a kind bookmark!

It’s that easy and it will look so pretty marking the page in your favorite storybook. Don’t forget to follow :)

What piece of jewelry will you use to make your bookmark?

Cute Cover-Ups

Summer Style

By Elle&Blair

With summer in full swing I thought it would be fun to show you guys a few swimsuit cover-up options so you can keep yourself looking chic in or out of your swimwear. Today, I thought it would be fun to spotlight a few cute options for cover-ups.
Since bubblegum pink is the color du jour (candy colors were all over the spring and summer runways), I thought this Topshop Poppy Cover Up would be perfect for a bright, cheery day at the beach, a waterpark or even a poolside BBQ with friends. I especially love the cinched waist since it adds a little structure to an otherwise traditionally flowy piece of clothing.

My second pick was this coral colored strapless Bandeau Dress. I love the delicately ruffled hem and the ruched bust and empire waist. This would be a cute cover-up for a tropical day of fun in the sun at the beach or an exotic vacation. It would go with almost any swimsuit since it’s strapless too. The best part about this dress has to be the color though. Coral looks great on almost every skin tone, so if you’re unsure about which cover-up to get, this is a sure bet.

Last but not least, I picked a super cute Embellished Cover-Up from Victoria’s Secret. I love the nautical stripes, which are also very in for summer, and the decorative neckline. It almost looks like it has a gorgeous bib necklace layered over it. This is definitely a preppy cover-up that’s perfect for those with an understated taste for all things glittery and glam. I would wear this for a day out at sea, a poolside bash or even paling around town after a day at the beach.

Which cover-up is your favorite? Have you seen any cute ones online? If so, share the link below.
